Food Grade and Identity Preserved Trucking

Grain TrailerTrucks or wagons that have been used to haul the following products should not be loaded with Food Grade and Identity Preserved crops for this facility:

  • Animal, poultry, or human wastewater/waste/products/by-products/associated packaging.
  • Toxic, corrosive, hazardous, radio-active materials and associated packaging.
  • Glass, steel, scrap metal, or other physical hazards.
  • Cereal and other seed treated with toxic dressing (excluding bagged or packed seed).

By signing the Inspection and Shipping Form, the driver and grower acknowledges this procedure is being followed.

Trucks that have been used to haul the following products should only be loaded with Food Grade and Identity Preserved crops after being cleaned as defined below:

  • Tallow’s (other than SRM/Cull Tallow)
  • Strong smelling materials
  • Any product known to be salmonella positive.
  • Packaging and parts of packaging from products used in agriculture or the food industry.
  • Wood, sawdust or other materials derived from wood, any of which have been treated with wood protection products.

Trucks must be pressure cleaned with a 1% hot (70-80 C) solution of any combined detergent/sanitizer after they are used to carry any of the above products. The load sheet must also be cleaned in the same manner. The vehicle and sheet must be drained and dry before reuse.

Proof will be required to be given that appropriate cleaning has been done when the above materials have been carried prior a Food Grade/Identity Preserved/non-GMO crop.

Trucks that have been used to haul the following products should only be loaded with a Food Grade and Identity Preserved crop for this facility after being cleaned as defined below:

  • Aggregates (other than fine/granular limestone products), coal/fly ash/coal by-products.
  • Fertilizer, salt
  • Medicated feed products
  • Nuts/nut products/sesame seed.
  • GMO soybeans, GMO corn.

Where the material is dry, a thorough sweeping and/or vacuuming will be considered sufficient. However, if the material is caked or damp, washing will be required. A proof will be required to be given that appropriate cleaning has been done when the above materials have been carried prior to a Food Grade/IP/Non-GMO crop.
